Program Notes
Colorful Black was composed for Uncertainty of Fate Project at the Hartt School of Music. This opportunity allowed me to meet a wonderful cellist, Jennifer Kloetzel, and this piece is also dedicated to her, who gave the first performance in the Uncertainty of Fate Festival on 2th May 2021.
As the title implies, I believe “colorful black” is the best description of 2020, it contains so many uncertain but expected things, until I was working on this piece. Looking back on this year, I have faith that there is always something wonderful, and I hope this piece can bring positive energy to everyone.
