Coiling Growth explores gradual transformation shaped by tension between alignment and deviation. The four Disklaviers are divided into two systems: two in equal temperament and two detuned by quarter tones, creating a subtle but persistent pitch misalignment.

Patterns overlap and shift as the interaction between the two tuning systems produces beating, interference, and unstable harmonic fields.

The piece unfolds as a continuous process in which small deviations are gradually amplified. The mechanical precision of the Disklavier is both maintained and unsettled, allowing rigid structures to bend into more fluid, evolving forms.
