Spring Scene in Li Yuan 梨园春景

This work was composed for piano and toy instruments, inspired by Chinese opera. Li Yuan is the place where Chinese opera is rehearsed and performed, and people enjoy music there. In Chinese, “Yuan” also means park or garden.

As it was composed in the spring of 2021, after the pandemic, I saw that everything was gradually getting back to normal, the peonies in the park were blooming again, and people were starting new musical events, I wanted to capture this moment with music.
